This week, I introduce a prominent Diagonal Lane character who has not yet put in an appearance in the comic strip, although she features frequently in the novels. Mrs. Madhurai Mone is a retired Bollywood playback singer who runs a music school on Diagonal Lane. Her husband, Damodar Mone, fancies himself as a detective. They run a detective agency cum music school from their flat in Wormwood Grove Apartments in Diagonal Lane. Damodar the Detective has already featured thrice in this comic strip. This is the first time that his redoubtable wife puts in an appearance.
