Les Hibiscus in Pondicherry

A couple of months ago, Blandine was in India (right now it is me that is in France), and we hopped over to Pondicherry for the marriage of a friend of Blandine's. Naturally we stayed in our favourite hotel in the whole, whole world: Les Hibiscus in Ponicherry.

This old-time sitting room is the lobby.

Mr. Bascarane, the genial propriétaire of Les Hibiscus, who is ever willing to help out his guests with absolutely anything. Les Hibiscus is his family property, converted into a guesthouse.

The guesthouse has four rooms, each different. Decorated with the family heirlooms of Mr. Bascarane.

The bathrooms (always the most critical part of of any hotel!) are a charming mix of modern and antique... modern fittings and antique decorations. Luckily not the other way around.
The beds are ancient family heirlooms. Nope, not the place for wild, honeymoon lovemaking... you'll end up having to pay Mr. Bascarane a small fortune for replacing these irreplaceable antique beds. Definitely a place for older married couples.

Balathi is the major domo of the house, who looks after your every need, and serves up an amazing, fresh healthy breakfast each morning (the most amazing, juicy mangoes, fresh pineapple juice, freshly baked baugettes, lashings of butter and home made confiture, Darjeeling tea and freshly brewed Coorg coffee, omelettes or dosa or utappa as per your desire).

The breakfast room, with the breakfast things laid out. I wanted to take one of the breakfast spread, but I always thought of it too late, after I'd finished pigging out on it...
