Mon Dieu ! - 2/71
Anglicisme :
Pop = Papa et Pop = Pan
Malheureusement, je
n’ai pu pas trouver un jeu de mot équivalent en français pour cette blague.

Eguisheim - Beau Village in Alsace
Not a short drive from Colmar is the beau village of Eguisheim. It is a major wine growing region, and is also famous as the birthplace of Pope Leo IX. Signs of the pope are everywhere, starting with this statue of him right at the enterance of the village. The first time we saw the village, it was at night. Here is the papal statue with the moon above it.

Colmar - absolutely the last post
Ok, absolutely the last post on Colmar. Here are various interesting pics around Colmar, all dressed up for Christmas, which I couldn't fit into previous posts...
First off, a restaurant decorated rather bizarrely for Christmas. It looked so intriguing, we had to eat here. Besides, it was lunchtime. Food was nice. Not amazing, not bad. But it was nice and cozy within, with a great ambiance.

Christmas in Colmar
The week before Christmas, we had gone to the town of Colmar, in the region of Alsace, for the Christmas market. Alsace is a region of France bordering Germany, with heavy German influences. It passed hands a couple of times between Germany and France, down the ages. Most of the placenames are German, as is the cuisine and architecture. The people speak French, but with a heavy Alascsian accent.
I am not much of a lad for the Christmas market. That was more of Blandine's thing. These are basically lines of kiosks selling Christmas bric-à-brac and ferris wheels. Here are a couple of pictures of the Christmas market itself:-

The Statue of Liberty in Colmar
On a recent visit to Colmar, in the Alsace region of Fance, I ran into this replica of the Statue of Liberty. Not surprising, since Colmar is the birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. This replica was set up in his hometown to mark his hundredth death anniversary...
Here is Bartholdi's childhood home in Colmar...
